Stance Lipotropin is a product that I am deciding to review because it looks cool and because the formula looks fantastic. I’m going to submit this is a pre workout because it is described on the Stance website as a ‘stimulant-free, pre-cardio, metabolic formula. To me that means pre workout. I would almost argue that this is as much of, if not more of a pre workout for women than several of the women’s pre workouts on the market today. In this review I’ll draw that out a little more and explain what I mean. The focus of this review will be based on the product itself and how it made me feel for my absolutely phenomenal workout this morning. I’ll tell you how it tastes, how the formula stacks up, and of course I’ll give you the full labeling shakedown. As always, we’ll take a closer look at the price and determine if it’s too high or too low for the performance of the product. What will the final grade be? Does it actually work? How does it taste? All of these questions and more WILL be answered in this article. So without further ado, let’s jump right in- our official BPW review of Stance Lipotropic

Stance Lipotropin reminds me a lot of a product that I enjoyed immensely- and that’s a product called NDS Cardio Cuts, by NDS Nutrition. This product was good enough to take fifth in the BPW Top Ten Pre Workouts of 2014, and I’m excited to try a product that even resembles that great product. The fact that Cardio Cuts gave you the exact purpose of the product was kind of a nice change of pace because you knew exactly what purpose you are supposed to take it for. It’s the same with Stance Lipotropic. It’s made for cardio. End of story. If you read my reviews you know I do a lot of cardio, and that’s why when I see a pre workout that can help me with this form of training, I’m always down to give it a try. The other reason why I was particularly excited to give Lipotropic a try was because I just recently reviewed another product from Stance called the women’s thermogenic. If you have a minute head on over to that review and check it out because you’ll find that I had tremendous success with that product. It was a really nicely developed formula. I also had surprisingly good results with that product which has actually been super rare for me- but would Lipotropic be able to deliver the same positive results? You’re about to find out. But first things first. How does Lipotropic taste?

Lipotropic Flavor Grade: 9.3

If you’re here wondering what’s the best flavor of Stance Lipotropic, well, you’re in luck. Because I’ve got the hookups at Nutrishop (which I think is the only place you can get Lipotropin), and because of that I was able to get my paws on one of each flavor of Lipotropic. The flavors are strawberry lemonade, and cherry orange. Pretty decent menu right? You betcha. So which is better? In my opinion, the cherry orange. Of course taste is subjective, but that is my personal preference. Here’s my initial taste reaction to both of these flavors:

Cherry Orange: The cherry orange was my favorite because it’s a flavor that you just don’t get much of. The taste was sweet and true. By true I mean it somehow had a very authentic profile. It was less of the ‘Hawaiian Punch’ cherry flavor and more of a black cherry or real cherry flavor. I think this flavor was sweet without being over the top and disgustingly so, while at the same time having enough to keep you coming back for more. The orange element of this flavor was definitely subtle, but it really worked out for the better because the cherry is such a nice representation that it basically doesn’t need the support of another flavor. If anything the orange adds a bit of a citrus element that complements the cherry notes. I know, I sound like I’m describing a fine wine, right? LOL. But that’s the way this one should be talked about. It’s that good!

Strawberry Lemonade: This flavor was also really good, but just not quite on the same level as the cherry orange. This one was very much less natural tasting and more of what you would expect from an artificially flavored supplement. I mean, the first flavor uses artificial flavors as well, but they don’t come across your palette as readily as they do with this flavor. It might also be that I tried this flavor second that I just didn’t take as much a liking to it because I was sort of ‘used to’ the first one already. Almost like I needed something to neutralize my palette in between. In any case, I can say with confidence that this flavor wasn’t as good. The strawberry flavors came through ok, but the lemon and bitter/sour elements of the flavor were just overdone. It was practically as sour as a lemon warhead if you remember those. They were those super bad for your teeth candies that made you pucker up your lips and just want to kiss someone. Sort of. LOL. I’ve also never been a huge sour fan so it’s very rare that I would choose the more sour option over the less sour. The cherry orange is a little tart but I wouldn’t describe it as sour like I would with this one. Long story short, if you’re going to give Stance Lipotropic a try, you should totally go with the Cherry Orange flavor. Taste will only take you so far. Did the product actually perform for me? Well, yes. It did as a matter of fact!

Stance Lipotropic Performance Grade: 9.0

I’m giving Stance Lipotropic a solid A in the performance department because it really was effective for me. It made a very serious impact on my workout. And that’s what a pre workout is supposed to do. You’ve read my reviews enough to know that there is one job of a pre workout. There is only one criteria that makes me give it either the thumbs up or the thumbs down. Did you workout harder, longer, or with more quality that you would have without your pre workout supplement. If the answer is ‘yes’, than that product has a good chance of scoring will with me. Here’s what I did to test the performance of Stance Lipotropic.

If you read the Women’s Thermogenic review you know I’m on vacation this week. What are you doing writing product reviews on vacation, Allie?! You may ask. Sigh. You must not know me as well as you think you do. I LIVE or working out. And for some reason, supplements have actually become a very real part of my workouts and therefore my life. I honestly love the feeling of getting up early in the morning, putting together a pre workout drink, and performing to the best of my ability to make myself better in some way. So yes, I’m on vacation, but that doesn’t mean that my workout life stops. There is no difference between who I am and my workout persona. I will still get my workout in everyday! And I surround myself with fitties who understand me and are actually the same way.

So this morning after I got back from Nutrishop with my spoils, we all sat around the kitchen table and got a good fifteen minute marinade in. The marinade is affectionately referencing the time when you are drinking pre workout and you are preparing for the training session.

We ended up doing a workout where we ran down the beach which is about a mile, and then we did an absolute BEAST of a strength training session. Bench pressing (yes, BENCH pressing!) I feel like I was the first girl in the place to ever do a bench press in the resort gym like ever. But we did it. And we did a lot of sets. We also did battle ropes for what seemed like it must have been hours. And Lipotropic stood to the challenge. I felt really good energy-wise, and had tremendous focus throughout. From the jog to the strength session I was super focused. Like. I knew what my goal of the day was and I went out and nailed it. It may have been my best workout in terms of focus in the last two or three weeks. My endurance was also on point. We ended up jogging back along the beach and I was the ‘winner’. Even though we weren’t racing. Or were we? Smirk. But even on that jog back my energy stayed high and I felt euphoric afterwards. Maybe an effect of the pre workout, maybe not. But a welcome feeling at any time. Now let’s take a look at the supplement facts and give this pre workout a thorough formula evaluation.

Stance Lipotropic Formula Grade: 8.7

I wanted to give Lipotropic a better formula grade but I was really kind of held back by the fact that there’s a decent amount of filler AKA maltodextrin in here. The serving size is 8 grams but the active ingredient complex is just over 4 grams only. That means about half of each scoop is made up of the maltodextrin, artificial colors, flavors, and sweeteners. That’s not exactly what I want to be putting in my body for a whole tub full of servings! But if we let that small issue go, we are left with the following ingredients as the real engine of this formula:

  1. Chromium: This helps with blood sugar regulation and all kinds of other things. Stance really appreciates this ingredient because they put it in their women’s thermogenic as well. I really like chromium so it’s a welcome addition to this formula.
  2. L-Carnitine Tartarate: This is another really solid ingredient which absolutely contributed to my stellar workout experience with Lipotropic. LCLT is an amino that aids in lipid (fat) metabolism among other various bodily functions.
  3. Choline Bitartrate: Choline is what helps your brain function like a well-oiled machine during your workout. It helps the synapses pass information more efficiently, or something.
  4. Betaine HCI: Betaine is also a super hot and trendy ingredient on the market these days and has been proven effective by numerous legitimate studies. It helps with everything from power output to fat burning and lean muscle generation. Good stuff all around.

Lipotropin Packaging Design Grade: 8.5

You might be surprised to read that I’m actually a fan of the Lipotropic label. After being quite rigid in my evaluation of the Women’s Thermogenic design, I really am going to change my tune quite a bit. In fact you might think I have dual personalities. Don’t tell them that Allie! Why not, they deserve to now! Shut-up! Make me! LOL. Carazayy. No but this look actually really appeals to me. Did anything change in terms of the black jar with the black lid and the lack of background graphics? Or really any sort of creative graphic for that matter? No. None of that changed at all. It’s still a really boring overall back-drop. But the thing that is making me hum a different tune about Stance is the brilliant yellow and orange hue to the A. The entire spirit and emotion of this design is transformed when you plug in this warm gradient to the graphic. The pink gave the packaging a certain feel that didn’t really resonate with me, but it’s amazing that changing just one little thing creates an entirely different emotion and feeling completely. This isn’t quite as good as some of the packaging heavyweights such as StrongGirl or something, but it’s a very solid B. Nicely done.

Stance Lipotropic Summary:

  • Stance Lipotropic Flavor Grade: 9.3
  • Stance Lipotropic Performance Grade: 9.0
  • Stance Lipotropic Formula Grade: 8.7
  • Stance Lipotropic Packaging Design Grade: 8.5
  • Stance Lipotropic Value Grade: 8.0

Once again Stance makes it hard to argue with the sheer performance of it’s product. This stuff is expensive at around $50, but you just can’t ignore that it WORKS. As with their Women’s Thermogenic, I’m not blown away by the supplement facts and formulation itself, but what actives there are in Lipotropic are highly effective and that’s something you should always be willing to shell out for. I also want to mention that this isn’t just an effective pre workout for cardio only. Lift with it. Crossfit with it. Lipotropic is a great product all around and I highly recommend it.*

Stance Lipotropic Final Score: 8.9
