Rivalus Complx5 Stim Free Pre Workout Review: Does it Work?

Written by

Rivalus Complx5 Pre Workout Reviews are impossible to find sometimes since this product is certainly more of a niche product. I suppose most of these stimulant free products are sort of ‘niche-y’, aren’t they? I think so. What I’ve found is that I don’t get very good results from stim-free pre workouts in general. I mean. Stims are what makes the world go round. And by world I mean my workout performance. Without it I am just an empty shell without the engine. Ok, I’m being dramatic. But let’s just say I wasn’t terribly pumped to review the Rivalus Complx5 Pre Workout to begin with. But hey. When a loyal FLA reader wants to know my thoughts, you bet your butt I’m going to deliver. Even if it’s a few weeks, a few months, or even a year after- you can bet if you ever had a question about a product and take the time to reach out, I’ll do my bestest to crank out a review for you. As with all my pre workout reviews, I’m going to do a full four-pronged assault review. I’ll talk about the flavor, the performance, the formula, and the packaging. There’s nothing that makes me happier than a good old-fashioned pre workout for women review. It’s where my heart is. With pre workout. So let’s get our big girl pants on and dive right into this Rivalus Complx5 Pre Workout Review.

Rivalus is a strange company. I think they’ve come a long way in term of branding adn packaging, but there’s just something about Rivalus that has never really struck me the right way. And I wish I could put my finger on what it is about the brand that sort of leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I mean. I’ve reviewed the the Rivalus protein and had a reasonable experience with the product…so why should I be inclined to hate all there products? It’s very strange. I think maybe I’m just jealous of some of their Instagram models bodies. Usually when something is rubbing me the wrong way it’s because I’m jealous. I hope you appreciate my honesty. My ex certainly didn’t. Sigh. But let’s get into the meat of this Complex Five review, starting with the taste.

Rivalus Complx5 Pre Workout Flavor Grade: 9.0

I’ve been on an absolute grape binge lately. And yes. That’s exactly what your mind initially thought of when I said that. I know. I’m an alcoholic. It’s in my blood. LIterally. LOL. But thank Heavens I’m also a fittie, or a fittie-alcy as my friend Sean puts it. (He’s just a friend ok, geez). With benefits. Heyyy. LOL. But yeah. I’ve been on a grape binge lately and not JUST with wine consumption. I’ve also been strangely drawn to grape-flavored supplements as well. The tastes that I get are really sort of a nice change from your typical fruit punch and watermelons. The flavors of Complx5 Grape-edition are strong and tangy. At two scoops, this product tastes darn close to grape cough medicine. And we all love cough medicine. The first sip of Rivalus Complx5 Pre Workout are the top notch. This is certainly better in terms of taste than the last product I reviewed, which was the Run Everything EWP pre workout. (Which I actually loved- read my full EWP Review Here). But even though Rivalus outperforms on taste, I was sort of doubtful of how the product would perform. I mean. Sim freeee. But. I actually am never going to say never with these pre workouts because of how Layne Norton’s Pre Workout like changed my life with how good it is. So. How DID it perform?

Rivalus Complx5 Pre Workout Performance Grade: 7.4

EW. That’s the only way to describe the effects (or total lack thereof) of Complex5. There was just NOTHING there in terms of energy with this Rivalus pre workout. I know. I know. What did I expect? There are only five ingredients, none of which are stimulants. You can only expect so much from a product like that. But here’s the thing. I didn’t even do THAT intense of a workout. You would have thought that even a moderate and average performing pre workout was going to do the trick for me. But it just didn’t. I took TWO full scoops of Rivalus Complx5 Pre Workout, and then waited like five minutes because I was running late for my writing class (yeah, I’m a dork OK?). The workout that I did consisted literally of just doing hamstring curls and then holds (no resistance), followed by some core stability work, and then a super light-weight dumbbell circuit to end things. I literally felt no impact from Rivalus. I might as well have drank a glass of water and then come in for my workout. I guess If I had to be a nice girl and choose ONE thing that Complx5 helped with, I guess it would have to be some endurance. I guess. But really I didn’t notice much. Let’s look at the five ingredients and see if it makes sense for this pre- to be weak AF.

Rivalus Complx5 Pre Workout Formula Grade: 7.0

I’m giving another lousy grade to Complx5 on the formulation because it’s just so basic, and not even in a good way. It’s like the formulator was drunk when he drew up this five-ingredients list. I mean. I just can’t understand why they would chose these five, out of all the heavily-researched and proven ingredients available in this day and age. Here are the five ingredients in Rivalus Complx5 Pre Workout:

  1. Micronized Bicarbonate
  2. N-Acetyl-Tyrosine
  3. Arginine
  4. Beta-Alanine
  5. Red Ginseng

And that’s all folks! Says Porky the Pig. Which is what I would look like if I had to depend on this pre workout for the rest of my workouts. I mean seriously. It’s not a good formula. Ok, so N-Acetyl-Tyrosine is a good inclusion. But it’s my understanding that this ingredient is often included because of how it supports cognition and adrenal function- AKA it works best WITH caffeine, of which there is none in Complex5. And then you’ve got some beta-alanine so that you at least ‘feel’ the product working. Whatever. Truth be told I didn’t even feel the BA tingles when I took this pre workout from Rivalus. And as for red gingseng…don’t even get me started on this one. It does nothing for you. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Rivalus Complx5 Pre Workout Packaging Grade: 7.8

I don’t know why, but the same phenomenon that causes me to dislike the Rivalus brand also makes me dislike their packaging. The black and orange are just too ‘Halloween-y’ for my tastes. The blocky, ‘lo-fi’ fonts also rub me the wrong way when combined with the black and orange. Everything just feels too corporate and structured and soul-less. Even though I wasn’t in LOVE with Run Everything packaging, at least it had soul. It had spirit. This one, it’s like the witch from Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe took a perfectly lively pre workout and sucked its (caffeine) soul out of it, and then turned it to stone. I also can’t separate the way this pre workout performs from it’s appearance, which is probably another reason why I’m describing it as soul-less. That’s really all I have to say with regard to Rivalus Complx5 Pre Workout packaging. Oh. And it’s an ugly shade of orange.

Rivalus Complx5 Pre Workout Review Summary:

  • Rivalus Complx5 Pre Workout Flavor Grade: 9.0
  • Rivalus Complx5 Pre Workout Performance Grade: 7.4
  • Rivalus Complx5 Pre Workout Formula Grade: 7.0
  • Rivalus Complx5 Pre Workout Packaging Grade: 7.8
  • Rivalus Complx5 Pre Workout Value Grade: 7.0

What you see is what you get with the Rivalus Complx5 Pre Workout. The product looks lifeless, and makes your workouts just about the same. Let’s just say, you don’t need to be worried about taking this one too late at night. But I guess it tastes ok. Question mark?*

Rivalus Complx5 Pre Workout Final Review Score: 7.4
